Original gears? - 75w-90 dinosaur-based gear oil. If the rear axle has been rebuilt in the recent past - Royal Purple synthetic... you'll need 2 quarts. Valvoline offers 75w-90 with limited slip additive already incorporated.

Not sure if i have a limited slip differential I like lucas products and not quite as expensive as royal purple. Would I have to get an additive if i used lucas, how much additive would I need..People at the parts store are absolutely no help. Would the valvoline work as good as the lucas oil, thanks.
[quote=HIO Silver;11964003]Four ounces for a 9-inch.
If you're not sure if you have limited slip, get the Valvoline gear oil since it is already formulated with it.
Your call on Valvoline or Lucas. I use both.[/qu
I have to return some spring compressors in the morning, finallly got front rear sway bars and new coil springs on. Guess I will pick up some valvoline while I'm there. Thanks!
Just to offer a different O, straight cheep 90 wt. gear oil has worked very well for 60 + years now. Some folk have extra jingle in their jeans for the pricey stuff, if you are one of them go for it.

All, I know there are no known issues running the old 90wt.
