IDI withdrawll :(

man i havent driven my truck in a month since ive been working on it. My 93 fox coupe also conveniently spun a bearing a month ago when i parked the truck for restoration. But man i miss not driving the truck, just floats down the road and i love that diesel rattle
hopefully shell be driving by this weekend if those dummies figure out my crossmember situation and i can finish the bodywork on passenger cab mount without melting in 40degree humid weather

your kidding! it's been that long already?
well the good news is then, that you must be about halfway done school.
priorities are right.hang in there.took me until mid 30's to buy a diesel truck, when i needed one in my low 20's haha.so don't feel too bad. i didn't know anything about them, except there was a whole lot more to 'em than just purchase price.i knew better thank god,i would have never made it had i tried sooner.
let's just hope your next problem will be too much time working to work on it,after school's out and she doesn't get put back together for a couple more years haha.

Greg,im wishing ya the best man.you sure are having a time of it.

Yup, its been that long already. Ive got 20 more weeks of school and thatll be it. Then I can start raking in the cash hopefully lol. Get my loans paid off and then maybe I can channel a little more money towards my truck. For now I just hook batteries to it and start it every now and then to keep everything lubed up. It sucks because I found a pretty decent cab that needed minimal work in a scrapyard I could have got for little more than scrap price, just didnt have the cash to swing it at the time. It could have been basically free since I would have scrapped my old cab afterwards, but oh well, might be able to snag the next one lol

At least it's not my only IDI

But I miss the whole 4x4 5 speed thing, even though, I do have another 4x4 5 speed toy now

I miss mine while I am offshore... Will be home soon and will be picking it up from the body shop. Having it repainted with Black Metallic and bright silver center section. NOS grill with NOS emblem, new fender badges, new side molding, taillights and roof lights. Will get new headlights later. Hope I can find some NOS headlights. I will post pics when i pick it up.

I know how you feel. It's summer so i don't drive much. But, for a half a week while trying to get shocks replaced and dealing with stubborn and rusted fasteners. I was happy once i got it all back together and drive it. 2wd front shocks are a PITA when they get rusty. Plus it keep raining so it took me a few days. Wish i had a shop, and a lift.

Too bad your in Michigan My parts truck has a pretty good cab, Needs very minimal work to repair compared to a salted road truck...I guess salt in the air is better then on the ground..LOL!

i drove her today! dindt have any doors on or no seats, felt like a little midget sitting on the floor driving around the block. clutch engagement point is kind of high for my liking, dont know if thats normal or worn clutch...but it drives!

Onus i hear ya on the rusted fasteners. id say about 80% of my total project time is dealing with rusted ****.

im jelous of all the nice lookin rigs on here, i had to lower the front back to stock springs, i had some 4x4 or PSD springs from previous owner, and the alignment was terrible, truck doesnt look very tough anymore I was going to paint mine omaha orange..but its just not big enough to pull the look off..and i dont want it down for another month while i pull all the trim off.. might be time for another rattle can special! (ive gotten pretty dang good at em, this woould be my 3rd car doing it)

im alwyas thinking do this, do that, 4wd swap etc etc..but its so much money for conversions..when for a little bit more than conversion price i could get a minty 4x4 5spd crew from the states. and man im just digging the 79s real hard...

so im thinking just drive it as it is..old and haggered lookin (but fresh sheet metal and no holes!), for a few years untill i graduate university next year, make some chino, then buy a mint 79 4x4 in the states for a huge total diesel resto.

i also have my 93 mustang that needs a valve guide and valve job, along with new lifters and gaskets..probably another 500 buckaroos down the drain

got a crappy booster on th truck..would love one of those no leak units but theyre 100 bucks..

ill just be happy to drive it down the road again (and hopefully the driveshafts are balanced and phased enough to not experience vibration at highway speed...)..see what kind of mileage i can pull off with the 5 spd.. (11.9L/100 witht he e4od at 1900 rpm with a slipping tranny pulling a car dolley 400km on the wya back!)
