Steering Stabilizer In ...

I did the Rancho dual shock stabilizer install today - WOW, what an improvement ... the "walking" issue is all but gone. However, having the stabilizer on does, it seems, highlight the fact that the stock shocks really aren't up to snuff ... so I've ordered-in the Bilstein 5100s for all the way around ... will drop those in after they arrive next week. I'm expecting a *significant* change.

Happy Fathers Day to all!

Why didn't you go with Rancho 9000XL's?

I was really on the fence for quite a while ... did a ton of reading in several forums, watched Sarge's installation video (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post10928832) and that really sealed the deal for me.

FONRDAY,

I see you put the duel rancho setup on your truck. Is your truck lifted? It didn't look like it in the photo.

I called Rancho to get a part number on the duel set up for my truck bit the rep told me it was only for lifted truck and would not fit mine as I do not have a lift. Can you clarify?

Thanks

Shelby: I have the single Rancho stab and I was told the same that you need a lift for the dual stab (or you will be doing some cutting).

Fonrday: Anti Rancho or anti-FoMoCo branded as Rancho crap?

Mine isn't lifted, just 4x4, and the dual stabilizer went on without issue ... No cutting, plenty of clearance and nothing hits.

Why the Dual ???
I have put on the 9000XL's and am very happy with them. I am now thinking about replacing the the stock junk stabilizer. So......... What was your line of reasoning that lead you to the Rancho dual system ??

Thanks!!
Roy

I went with the Bilstien single shock stabilizer, made a big difference.
This was before the added weight of the full replacement bumper and it still handles great.

I "steered" away from the dual setup becuase my truck isnt lifted and I read that it would rub without modification.

It will hit and bend or turn down the clamp in the center. A bump or when carrying a load will do it. How do I know? Been there done it. Had to sell it on Ebay.

I, like Epic, tested this by jacking up the front left tire - no hitting at all, plenty of clearance.

I went with the dual because of the "walking" issue, particularly when towing - my thinking/reasoning was that doing the stock cylinder replacement wouldn't fully take care of the problem ... and now, of course, I'm perfectly positioned if/when I decide to level or raise.
