I have a 94 F350 with a E40D 2wd in it. I picked up a trans to put into my truck and I noticed on the top of the tranny bellhousing, there is two numbers casted on there. The trans I picked up has 23 and the trans on my truck has 24. The number on the housing its self of the trans is the same so if any one has any idea what those numbers mean or what ever, id appreciate it.
I got a pic if you need one...
I have no idea on the numbers cast in, but if the replacement tranny is out of an IDI diesel you should be good to go. If the tranny is fron a 460, it will not fit.
This transmission has the same E40D casting numbers on the driver side of the transmission just above were the shifter PRND21 switch is on the transmission.
The numbers I am talking about are directly on the top of the transmission bell housing side its self. Numbers are about 1"-2" in height and mine thats installed on my truck at the moment says 24and the one on the pallet here on the side it 23. The look exactly identical but i guess the worst thats gonna happen is it wont fit in some mysterious way...?
This is the numbers i am talking about. The used trans has 23 on top of the bell housing and currently my truck has 24 on it. The numbers by the transmission gear selector switch ON the transmission are the same and when I run it in google it just says E40D.
