5.4 V8
I am new to your forum, but wanted to ask a question. I was wondering if there was any kits made to install a 5.4 V8 into an 80-86 FS Bronco? And, if they do, do ya'll think it would be woth it?
Just looking for some opinions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
After all, the Bronco was available stock with a 5.8! Why downsize? And say what you will about modern engines, there is very little substitute for "cubic inches"! Not to mention that if you want to run a high performance version, the components are readily available and have stood the test of time.
Here's why someone might be interested in the swap though. The 5.8 is listed at something like 240HP and 340ft/lbs. The '03 5.4 is 260/350. The new '04 3 valve engine is supposed to be like 300 HP. I like the old style motors too, but the times they are a changin'.
With the 5.4 or any "new" engine, do you have to put all that crap on it? I am talking computers and technical junk. Can you stick it in and keep it like an older truck... simple!
The difference in my Bronco and my '51 Dodge engine compartments is crazy alone. all that stuff on newer engines freaks me out... I want to go back to the good ole days
