Sorry I have not been able to get back on line. Yes that is the bolt. When mine happened these trucks were very new in 2010. The dealer didnt even know the bolt was missing. Fortunatly I have friends that worked on these trucks at Ford and I sent them pics and they noticed the missing bolt as what caused the problem. Needless to say I now check this bolt whenever I check the oil.

I'm really wondering if this is an assembly issue of something else????? My truck is one of the May 2010 builds, could be some assembler was not installing the bolt or not torquing properly or not loc-tighting or, or, or, or

That's what I think. Lots of room for errors during assembly, especially when the engine was brand new. I think that if it were a weak spot in the design we would have seen more failures like this by now.
We'll see, not all 6.0L and 6.4L weak spots exposed themselves within two years.
I wonder when the secondary cooling system went dry if that had an affect on the EGR tube too, im gonna guess the EGR ran alot hotter than it normally does when it went dry. Kinda scary knowing if that bolt goes missing that excessive flex will cause the FLEX hose to fail.
Mine is build date 4-27-2011. Just cked bolts and glad I did, was a bit loose on that bolt and the other bolt on the otherside of bracket was a bit loose. So I went on a bolt tightening spree. I found many bolts that should not have been loose, and engine was cold.
Sorry yours had a Meltdown, but I appreciate the info for it saved me a possible meltdown in the future.thanks Paul
Jermont that is what I wrote it off to. I was really pushing my truck right off the bat. I was towing our 33' TT. I was testing the motor the whole time. My bro in law has a 6.0 so we were pushing both trucks to see the difference while both pulling our campers. Needless to say we both were impressed with the new power plant.
My repair was 'completed' 8 days ago, still have not received my copy of the work order. Checked with the SM yesterday, was told they were waiting on approval to pay my rental in Cedar City.
Just hoping this is not a 'cover up' for the shoddy work originally done on the rad replacement.
I will post a list of parts replaced from the work order(s) when I have all of the information.
