Truck starting running poorly, missing. Got home on 4 cylinders. Took valve covers off, pass side rear inj (no7) has no change when unplugged. Removed IDM after having it checked in another truck and ran fine. Probed harness with OHM meter and all wiring from IDM harness to engine checked fine. Went to injector that is not firing and the solenoid? on the top is loose. Im not sure where to go next, tighten and see if it will operate or is something out of whack in there (Shorted out?). This is the farthest ive been inside a diesel at this point. All injectors have the same numbers on them except for no1. which was probably changed by the po. Thanks in advance
Tighten that solenoid down and see how it acts. What is the difference in the numbers on the no. 1 injector? Are they all AA code (meaning that the P/N starts with AA) injectors?
AO or AD? I don't know of any AO injector code, but if it is an AD, you one split shot injector in there with 7 single shots. That's probably not the best scenario....
Here is a old post from Jim that I copied and paste
Re: Difference Between AA, AO and AC Single Shots?
AA and AO are essentially the same thing. AO were in '94.5 - E'95, then AA in '95.5 - '97. Why they didn't just start with AA is beyond me...
AC were in the T444E High Output motors and we can still get them brand new. They are equal to what we build as a Stage-1.

back to the drawing board. I did tighten the screws but injector was still loose. removed solenoid and tightened the 4 bolts that hold down the top of the injector as this was the problem. she runs better but still has a slight miss but nothing like it was. oil flows out the back of the relief on the injector and out the deflector. unplugging the injector made no difference. gonna swap out this injector n see how it acts
