DEF Usage

Curious what kind of mileage everyone is getting on a tank of DEF. My 2012 is ranging between 9,000-11,000 but the dealer told me that I would only get 5,000-6,000 miles. Not complaining at all....just wanted to see where others were at.

DEF consumtion is based upon several factors. unloaded, good quality diesel will yield less usage.

Heavy towing then you will use more.

I've filled mine twice in 10,500 miles. I don't know how much was left each time. The first time at about 4,000 miles, I put in 2.5 gallons. The second time with my recent oil change was about 3 gallons (at the Ford dealer...never again!). But again, all the guage said was "Less than half full". So I don't know how much I have actually used.

I use more than the average than....
and I really don't know how much that is as
after the first fight to find and use a 2.5 gal bottle,
I now will usually go by a pilot and fill up at the def pumps

IIRC, my first 2.5 gal was in the 3 or 4k mile range.... but I do tow 40% of the time.
