E brake cables

Hey been a while since I've been on here but I'm at another standstill on my truck. 92 f150. Trying to take off the e brake cables at the differential. What is the easiest way to get them off the diff? Right now the trucks frame is up on blocks and the rear diff is off the springs, wheels still attached. Only thing holding me back from taking the diff out from under the truck is the brake cables. Any advice would be great.

You're probably not gonna like this much, but short of cutting the cables, you're gonna have to take the wheels and brake drums off. Take the shoes off, and then you can remove the parking brake hardware from the cable. Once the cable end is free, get a ½" combination wrench and use the box end to compress the spring clip that holds the cable sheath into the brake backing plate.

I sometimes have a hard time explaining things, but once you get the drum off, it should be pretty self-explanatory.

Good luck,
Pat

Kinda what I figured I was going to have to do just wanted to make sure. I'm pretty much rebuilding the whole truck so depending on how I feel tomorrow will determine how I get them off. Cutting and replacing them or taking them off the right way and using them later........

Unhook them at the spreader bar and take the cables with the axle
