Where is this located? Is it the electrical plug that plugs into the back oh the compressor manifold line? I am building pressure on the high side and losing freon through the relief valve. Is it because of the switch? When I'm low on freon my compressor kicks on and off. But when it's full I never here it kicking off. Is that normal?
The high pressure switch is on the top back of the compressor. A two wire plug. I would not think your problem is because of the high pressure switch. Although, I have to admit I don't know about the relief valve. Others will be along.
Glenn has it right on the switch. Have you any ideal what your pressures are, should be 28-30 psi on the low side and (IIRC)250 psi on the high side. I know that the relief valves can blow if not enough air flow over the condenser. Also possible the relief valve is just weak. Also it is normal for your compressor to not cycle continuously if the system is properly charged.
Not sure on the high side pressure. Clutch fan is good so there should be enough air moving over it. Low side never gets above 45 psi. It's 95-100 degrees here so that should be normal right? How could you measure the high side? Is there a gauge similar to the low side ones? Had a leak down test done on the machines and in 4 hours the needle never even budged.
Also what would some reasons be for building pressure? And could it be leaking behind the condenser? I hear a hissing sound when I turn my truck off. Lasts about 10-15 sec. Is that normal? I never paid attention before until my problems started.
