Well i went out and bought new headlights, didnt fix the problem, then of course i just noticed my fog lights are out as well, im thinking a relay? i have daytime running lights and tail lights when i turn the *** to the first notch, turn it once more and the headlights and fog lights go out completely, this common? i have a 2002 f250 thanks guys, and gals
I had a very similar problem. Parking lights/DRLs worked fine. Flash to pass worked fine. Headlights wouldn't work, low beam or high beam. Started out as an intermittent thing, then eventually just quit. I would open everything up and probe all the pins with a tester and find nothing wrong.
I eventually found a burnt pin in one of the connectors that plug into the multifunction switch. I had to pigtail a new plug onto the harness.
Keep hunting. The factory wiring has no relay, you have the switch, multifunction switch, and central junction box. Don't throw parts at it. Get a tester, a wiring diagram, a six pack, and a Saturday with nothing else to do and start digging.
I will add it took a while for me to hunt the problem down. I don't get too many uninterrupted Saturdays. While I was struggling, I unplugged the DRL resistor and put a jumper across the plug so my DRLs were running at 100%. That way I could see to get home at night.
