I know there is a brake area but I am hoping a Van person may have the information more readily available..
I have a 1992 e150 with 132 inch wheel base
I have a second e150 on a deal for the next couple days it is a 2002 with a 132 inch wheel base.
I know the parts cross over says the cables are not interchangeable but after looking at it and measuring it appears while there are big differences in the cable lengths for the front, intermediate and rear cables. it appears all the mounting points on the frame are the same.
I am wondering if since I only have the left rear cable for the 92 can I just remove it and use the complete cable system off the 2002?
only other questions are the 2002 has a pull handle to release the brake and the 92 you press hard on the pedal to get it to release is this an issue?
and is there suppose to be a spring on the pedal to keep it up or is this done with the cable tension?
thank you for any information you can provide
and as I mentioned in another message are there any other odds and ends I should grab while I am at it? only condition is I have to leave the 2002 e150 drive-able so it can limp to the scrap yard.
I do have my eyes on the step bumper so I can have my hitch that the 92 is not equipped with. Hoping the harness for the lights is there too haven't checked that yet.
any information you can provide is greatly appreciated
Ok thanks for the information It probably is 138 I messured in the dark so a few inches would not suppprise me.. I guess we will find out if it will work Got the cables so might as well give it a shot it is nothing but time and may save me the cost of all new cables. Nothing ventured nothing gained.. I will let you know if the complete cable system off the 2002 will work on the 92 fingers crossed lol
