Hey guys, 94f250. Powerstroke.
Im getting codes p1661, reader has no description. P1280, injection control pressure circuit out of range low. And p0236 turbo boost sensor A circuit performance.
Any ideas? Where do i begin ln these? Its getting harder and hardr to start by the day.. It stumbles for the first 5 cranks/cycles then fires up, still stumbling then picks it self up. When running it runs fine. Above about 2300 rpm it looses power. Its a 5 speed.. So basicly i have a lack of fuel right? What about the hpop? Thanks guys
What are you using to pull codes? The p1661 my be erroneous. The p1280 points to the ICP sensor or something in that direction. Pull the connector off the ICP sensor and check for oil in that connector. The p0236 points to the MAP sensor. At some point you can pull the connector on it and see if performance improves. If the codes have just come up. They could have been there for quite some time.
Check your fuel pressure cranking or at idle at the schrader valve on the fuel bowl.
Wow awesome diagram!! Ok so i will unplug icp, and try to tap on or clean ipr. Is it true the hpop runs the injection? So maybe the hpop is going out? And what about unplugging map sensor what will that do?
High pressure oil fires the injectors. The p0236 code points to the MAP. If it runs better unplugged the sensor could be bad. There were two different MAP sensors. Gray and black. Gray is the older sensor superseded by the black sensor. Check the hose that runs from the spyder to the sensor too.
If your speaking of the OEM gauge you should see temps rise to a point then peak as the thermostat opens then settle back. If it doesn't peak and settle back or get somewhere around the N or O in NORMAL the thermostat is stuck open. The actual temps would depend on which thermostat is in it. 195ish or 203ish. Some run a 180* in hotter climates.
Probably not. The HPOP almost never goes out. Unless it's a reman that someone else replaced when they probably didn't need to. We have seen several reman HPOP's fail.

What part of the country are you in? What are the outside temps when you're reading 210? 210 won't hurt anything, I just usually don't see those temps until it really warms up more.
How long have you had the truck, and did the PO do any mods to it? Maybe you've got a 203 deg. thermostat installed in there.
I unplugged the icp, and map. Didnt really notice anything except engine light for map. Sounds good about hpop, as far as i know its factory. Not sure about the t stat, owned the truck about 2 years. Im in so cal usa high desert area, right now temps are from 75 to 90. Is my fuel pump electronic or mechanica driving? And its a high presure right? What kind of pressure should i be getting at where? So i can check. Thanks again you guys you all have great info
The fuel pump is mechanical and you can check the fuel psi with a stick style tire gauge at the valve on the right side of the fuel bowl. I'm pretty sure it should be at least 50 psi at idle.
