Hi all, I bought new actuators, I just did this for my Ford Windstar Van and it was a piece of cake, didnt have to take anything off except panel. With these trucks, do you serious have to remove the rods, door handle, and the three bolts that hold the lock? I got the actuator OUT without taking all that apart, but I can't get it back it, it either clips in and does not reach the nipple, or vice versa, any input would be great!
No. Did this on old green. Bought 4 off fleabay ($20), installed and wired them in together with the factory ones. Almost 7 years later, locks are still really strong.
I recently replaced an actuator on one of my rear doors with a Dorman unit I got off Amazon-
In theory, it's not that difficult, but half the issue for me was just access- I had trouble getting my hands to the stuff I needed to address (inside the door). I did have to take off the handles, etc in order to get it done.
Getting to the bolts on the inside of the door is also lots of fun, esp. the one on the top right.
