Wow HO, just got my a/c charged last night in HOMADE, wow I'm gonna love this as summer is here in Kentucky, 48 degrees. now the only thing I've gotta do is get the doors to fit so all of the hot air doesn't come,or as my buddy says just roll the window down and let my hot air escape that it would probably be freezing inside, he ain't rite is he?
A/C in the car (or truck) is no different than A/C in the house. The tighter you can make the inside, the more efficient the system will be. The air inside the cab is drawn through the A/C unit past the evaporator coil, which cools the air and returns it through the ducts. The cooler the intake air, the colder the duct air will be. If you're constantly sucking hot air in, it will never get cold. All you can really do is seal all (or as many as practical) the holes in the firewall and floor, and have the doors and windows seal as tight as possible. Beyond that, what it is is what it is.
I bought a Old Air unit long before I got Homade finished(about 4 yrs. before) and finally with help from Terry(TRUXX) last fall, getting slow in my old age gettin things done but am very happy with it working now. Now maybe I can get Linda to get on route 66 and heading west, maybe I'll get to mark that one off of my BUCKET LIST, Garry
Hope you know I'm going to ask... Any pics? Homade sounds alot like what I want to have when I'm done.... LT1 (5.7 L) and AC... Great gas milage and all...
