My wife and son got me a set of train horns for Fathers Day!!!!
WoooHoooooo!
I had the day off today so i did the install it took me a total of 7hrs. I could have done it in less time but Im pretty **** retentive so it takes me a little longer to do things. Pretth happy with the install and now hopefully your not in front of me and pi$$ me off!!!!
Pictures ha ha, Im not Epic. I'll get some posted but its gonna take me about a week to get pics up, Im leaving on a one week cruise tomorrow, part two of my Fathers Day present!!
Wow, 34 years of running trains and blowing those horns would scare me to death on a truck. I guess that's the idea though. I suppose I've heard them tooooo much.
The police around town here will actually ticket you for blowing your train horns so I have to be carefull when blowing them. Some drivers need more than train horns to get them moving but you are right it sure does get their attention!
When I first started running engines the whisltles(horns to you) had a valve that came thru the roof with a piece of rope tied to it and secured to the top of the console. When you pulled the rope it simply pulled down on the valve and the whistle sounded. Of course you got stinking compressor oil laden water sprayed on you at the same time. It would make a mess out of your glasses.
Of course now you just push a button and the whisltle sounds. I sure hope you have something more cleaver in mind than a rope!!!Ha Ha.
Drivers in Atlanta are the same way. My last truck I got some that didn't require an air tank, just a small air pump, and they weren't loud enough to do any good.
Do you have to get some with an all time compressor keeping a tank pressurized in order to be "loud"?
Then I wonder where in the world will they go except on the hood or under the frame. Anybody do this on the 6.7 truck?
Should be able to fit under the frame; horns, tank, compressor, etc..
One that I remember, Epic has his wired where the upfitters act as a on/off relay for stock vs air horns.
He has a video somewhere.
Fordtuf, I tried the horn you're talking about, got it at northern tool I think, maybe harbor freight? You are right, Atlanta traffic will just laugh at you with that one.
Here's what you need, it's a 150psi system.

Naturally, air bags if you want are just an easy bolt on if you already have the air source, so why not get them.
