i have not seen that on mine. My 77 parts truck had hardly any good sheet metal on it and that area was fine in it too. if you take you doors off it should be able to be repaired. Good Luck.
Yep, looked at my 79 250 and my 78 bronco. Didn't find any rust on either. But like highboy said it should be an easy fix. Lining the door back up will be the hard part

My '73 is rusted through there - the bottom of the door pillar. A neighbors '77 was that way too - but the body shop just cut out the rust and welded good metal in. I think it has to do with the fact that the older '73-'77s didn't have plastic fender liners in the front, lots less front end rust on most '78-'79s around here.
