Is there any way to disable the horn chirp when you lock or unlock the doors? They are set up as 1 push unlocks drivers door 2 pushes of the button on the fob unlocks all 4 doors. 1 push locks all 4 doors. 2009 superduty 6.4 diesel, auto, power everything.
I agree that it is loud, and if you are walking away from your car and some poor pregnant lady is walking right in front of your truck while you are locking it, that horn is loud! I hope I don't send anyone into premature labor.
I was thinking about taking mine to an alarm place and having them put a lower decibel piezo buzzer or something and taking that signal that goes to the horn and send it to the buzzer. I like an audible confirmation that my truck is locked, but the horn is too loud and scares people.
I'm sure it can be disabled. My wife's new subaru did this and it was very obnoxious. For her car, it was right in the owners manual, and it takes a series of ignition cycles, lock/unlock the door, turn the lights on/off, cross your toes, and wiggle your nose, and wallah! On these new vehicles, everything is controlled by the BCM (body control module), so I'm sure it can be programmed, but it may require a trip to the dealer if it's not in the manual.
I think it is the factory setup, they bought the truck used but only a year old when they got it.
By the way I spent last week with them in Myrtle Beach we came home today. I LOVE THIS TRUCK. I topped out on fancy gap in NC coming north on I-77 at 64 mph pulling almost 14000 lbs. It dropped 1 gear and came up that 8 mile long hill like its underwear was on fire. The 04 they had before with the 6.0 would have topped it at 30-35 mph.
