Ok i cant go look at my truck because it's at the shop, but are the rear leafs on a 1974 F250 bolted on? Im going to the local pick a part yard and wana get some lighter springs seeing mine are extra HD due to the PO towing a huge boat. And i need to know what i need to remove them and what not. Any tips or tricks?
Will any other model year leafs fit a 74 F250 as a factory height?
Also, what new parts will i need like bushings or anything?
Also you sure have a lot of questions. Just kidding glad you are using FTE to the fullest.
Will that work? Like if i remove 3 of the 7 or remove 4 of the 7... now that i think of it there might be 8 leafs, anyway, if i remove a few, will that lower the back of my truck or no?
Ha..ha... jk yea i do hahaha, my bad I had a question spurt today. My usual problem is not researching before i ask a question but hey im getting better!
I hate searching too. Kept me busy all day. I heard that you should remove every other one. So remove 2,4 and 6. That would be much easier to me then trying to tear it all apart.

So do i just losen up the U bolts and slip them out? I thought that there was a trick to leaf springs so they dont unspring and fly everywhere haha
Well I would jack the frame up till the tires are off the ground. Then undo the u bolts and drive line and roll the axle out. Then take the bolt out of the leaf spring. Pull out the extra springs and bolt it back together, you will probably need a shorter bolt.

Doesnt sound to hard. I have to take the drive shaft out anyway to have its balance checked so ill get my mechanic to help me since thats where my truck is at the moment I want it back!
