hey everyone, i have a 2004 ford f250 with a 5.4 triton with about 212,000 km, over the last year it has lost a noticeable amount of power and developed a knock. i have priced out rebuilds and replacment motors but the cost doesnt seem worth it (the 5.4 not having much power in the first place with not so great fuel economy) origonaly i wanted a 7.3 swap but that would also run big money and i was curious if a fuel injected 460 might be worth it if i had a donner truck? im sure it would fit just not to sure if the electrical might be a nightmare or not. right now the truck is just sitting and im not in a rush but i do need too make a decision about what to do with it. I would love to hear anyones oppinions weather this is a good or bad idea, if its worth the trouble? or what kind of problems i might run into? thanks.
Bad idea imho. Take it somewhere and find out what is causing the issues. Those engines while not gas sippers should go for a long time. Installing a different engine will kill the resale on it too. Don't know where you are but in most states it is illegal to swap out engines anymore.
