I have a 94 7.3 IDI 5spd 2wd with 210,000 miles. I've had it for 2 years & had to do nothing to it but change the oil & put fuel in it. It cranks fine & runs fine & gets between 17-21mpg. Here lately I've noticed that when I'm on a straight flat road where I can keep the accelerator pedal in one spot, it acts like it wants to cut out or start missing. It also kinda feels like it's surging in a way. It doesn't smoke & when I gas on it, it takes right off. I should also note that I just changed the oil & filters (oil, fuel, air) not long before I noticed this happening. Every since I bought the truck I've noticed that I get more power & speed out of it if I only go about 3/4 throttle instead of just flooring it. Either way, the truck never smokes, which I think is odd for these old trucks. Sometimes it smokes white when I do a warm start, but other than that, there's no smoke at all. It's not that I want smoke, it's just I'm wandering if the injection pump is about to go out? Any ideas or suggestions?
X2 on the pump and injectors. Routine maintenance is replacement every 100k miles, but also check the lift pump and fuel lines to the tanks, might be part of it.
I've only put approx. 15,000 miles on it in the 2 yrs I've owned it. So I don't know when or if the the injectors or pumps been replaced. Is it possible that the pump is turn down too low?

not likely,because you state:
"I've noticed that I get more power & speed out of it if I only go about 3/4 throttle instead of just flooring it"
that's an indication of too much fuel for the amount of air supplied already.turning the fuel up,would just turn the fuel pedal to mush at 1/2 throttle instead of 3/4.
a lot of people turn the fuel up,or advance the ip's timing too much in an attempt to compensate for worn out, medium ware items, like the ip and injectors.
if you want to do something for free,id suggest turning the fuel down about 1 flat, this will make the pedal feel crisp all the way to the floor.then look at the timing line on the ip.if it's straight up,rotate the ip's timing mark,so it's just on the left side of the housing mark (ip twisted to the pass side) with just about a clear visible spacing between the lines.
other than that, ideally it would be nice to give her a total tune.ip,injectors, proper timing set w/ meter.that's sure not free though lol.
