I thought it said that you could keep the glove box? I wana use factory controls so. The only way to do that would be to use the ac/defrost/ heat system combo.... Which then brings up if I should send the controls I have from a 74 with ac in to get modified so they work with the new system.

Then I think I should get the combo one so I can get rid of the controls on the dash. Then I want to get a 7 inch screen radio with navigation to put in its place.

Just talked to a mechanic friend and he says to go with the combo. Saves space and can use factory or aftermarket controls. Now what I would like to know is how well the heater works and how well the defrost works...... I also assume its a vacume not cable system?

Discussion about this unit last week and "crsweet78" said he had it in his truck. He offered to sent me pictures of how he mounted it,but I haven't seen them. I ask him to post them ,but I haven't seen them. I could have just missed them.
He said it worked well and was a good fit.

Just wondering,
If the truck has factory AC, why not just fix/update it?
You could do a Parallel Flow condenser, modern compressor, new lines and an R134a expansion valve for likely less money and have a much better (OEM) air handler. That's assuming that the air handler is still there and intact, of course.
Aftermarket kits are ok but OEM air handlers, the Heater/AC "box", tend to perform better and have the ability to draw in fresh air.

I would but my truck never had ac. I have the controls out of a scrap 74 that's identical to mine besides it had ac but, I believe a lot of the ac stuff was gone

Oh, ok. In a non-AC truck, aftermarket is absolutely the way to go.
It's a major project to graft a factory system into a non-AC truck.
I would suggest that you check out Classic Auto Air - Air Conditioning & Heating for 70’s & Older Cars & Trucks. before committing to the Nostalgic Air system, though.
Just remember, you get what you pay for.

Don't see a setup for our trucks. The 72 might work but the dashes are completely different.

Give them a call. Like many online businesses, they don't/cant always list their entire inventory.

can't speak to this kit, but I have dealt with Nostalgic Air before and found them to be reputable and good guys to deal with. When I put AC in the 67 mustang I'm working on, I'll go to these guys.

Sorry for the late response, but no I don't have an aftermarket unit installed I have factory A/C. I just ordered all the parts I needed to get it back going and convert to R134 from NAP.

Ooook so I just pulled factory air out of a 74 parts truck 15 minutes from my house. Now I have to decide which I want. I have all the factory stuff besides hoses and the compressor. Do I have this factory air installed which requires cutting a nice size hole in the fire wall, or do I go with the nostalgic air system? My mechanic worked at ford as a mechanic in the 70's so he knows these dents. He doesn't like aftermarket cuz of the amount of "air flow" he says air flow is the key to good AC? So I'm not sure what to do.... Go with factory and a new modern compressor or do I go with the kit aftermarket?
