Some one told me to put one on my super duty . Reason I've had problems with what looks like compressor shavings from a old compressor working its way around the system along with what looks like desikit form the reciver dryer. It all seems to collect on the orfice right before dryer . Any thoughts guys ????
Don't know about a filter, but you need to clean your system out if you got trash circulating. Either way you have to break into the system. Flush it good and recharge is one way to go about it.
If you do know that the condition of the existing compressor is good, I would flush the system, replace the orifice tube & accumulator-drier, then evacuate & recharge after adding the proper amount of refrigeration oil to each component. The accumulator-drier is the filter on the low (suction) side of the system. I have seen an in-line filter that can be added before the orifice tube on the high side of the system. Back in my automotive repair days, there were some service bulletins regarding some hose assemblies that could not be cleaned properly due to "pockets" in them that would not flush completely. It was recommended to change the assembly. Or, another fix was to add a larger area filter before the orifice to prevent plugging. This would be on the high side of the system.
