Transmissions

Here's the deal, I have a 08 F 450 with the 4.88 rear end and I want to change it to a different ratio. I want to know if all the transmissions are the same or if there is anything internally different from one truck to the other.

The Transmissions don't change until you get to the f-650 I believe.

With that being said I tow around the 30,000 gvw often with my F-350 with 3.73 and have had no trans issues in 82,000 miles. All I do is change the trans fluid and flush every 15,000 miles.

Thanks for the responce. My application is pulling a 5th wheel only so I won't be maxed out. I did pull this same trailer with my F350 swr that was a 3.73 and it pulled just fine but going to a dulley made traveling much nicer.
