3rd radiator........

Well I'm on my 3rd radiator that just started to leak this week, its only 8 months old and the dealer wont warranty it cause there no hose o-ring leaking. My question is that the radiator itself has a warranty of 12/12, but since it was done under warranty there not honoring it.........what gives

So if i bought the radiator out right its 705.00 plus tax, or i can go with an all aluminum welded Ron Davis radiator for 1400.00. Its more money but might be the last time i have to deal with it.

Ron Davis radiator seems to think there is an issue with steam serges within the engine block coming from the engine cooling system causing the pressure spikes damaging the factory radiator's.........there not guaranteeing there radiator is the fix as the problem may just find the next weakest link..... They have a few out in trucks for about a year with no problems so far...Any thoughts........

Still have my orginal so I don't know or think steam is the issue, rather it just cannot take the pressure. But then again I still have mine.

My original rad crapped out around 10K miles. 2nd rad has been in for the last 100K miles. Seems like a coin toss with these radiators...

If you want to go after market look at the spearco series, they are tested to 200 psi so they definitely can handle pressure. Also the spearco will drop your temps a bit, they are in the 1400 dollar range.

Unfortunately it sounds like aftermarket is the way to go. Replacing with the OEM seems like a complete crapshoot which is rubbish. That's a spicy meatball to have to front with your own cash and you shouldn't have to, but I guess you can either pay for reliability or roll the dice with something that's "free"/warrantied...

Sand, I feel your pain. I went through 3 of them too on my 6.4. And now I have gone through 1 on the 6.7.

I think it's the design and supplier. I would bet the aftermarket would be good to go.

It would be valuable info if you decide to go with it. Looking forward to seeing what happens.

I can also relate to this crap as I just got a new one (2nd) at ~140k miles. The dealer indicated the radiators have been updated several times to correct design deficiencies, don't know if this is true or BS.

My dealer also indicated the actual cold fill should actually be just at or below the low cold fill line. Said there's a TB on this. Anyone heard of this? It makes me nervous as that puts you right about the point of uncovering the port that tee's off between the upper EGR cooler and the radiator.

A month or so after the last radiation failed I had it back in the shop as it was frequently burping. The shop replaced one of the thermostats (sounds like it was hyperextended) and said it's all good.

My level seems to still want to slowly drop so who knows what's next.
