trailer question

I plan on buying a trailer for my 88 mustang gt conv will my expedition have a hard time pulling it? I have an 1997 expedition 4x4 5.4 with the optional oil cooler and tranny cooler. I'm guessing it has a towing package. I'm new to the expedition world but I have always loved fords. Has anyone in here pulled a car with their expedition? If so how did it do? and I was reading the some expeditions have a harness for a brake controller? Is this true? and where would it be located?

If you get the car loaded onto the trailer in the correct spot for weight distribution you should have no trouble pulling the load. If it came with the harness and it is still with the truck it should be stuck in console or somewhere. If it has the trailer package it plugs in under the dash on the drivers side near the center console. If it has the tow package but you do not have the harness, you can get them after market.

Your expedition should have no problem pulling that. My 98', 4.6 expedition pulled an open car trailer with a 7500lb truck on top. I also pulled a 29' camper trailer for the better part of 6yrs with her. The camping trailers GVW was ~ 7k, the electric brakes made a world of difference... but I wouldn't call it a requirement with a lightly loaded car trailer.

Really. you pull a good bit. My stang weighs a little less than 3000lbs so I guess I should be ok. I went out and looked for a plug in for a brake controller so I guess I don't have one.

Thanks so much you really helped me out.

I pulled a Chevy Monte Carlo SS with my 97 Expedition a couple of years back and didn't have any problems doing so.

I found my harness in the little compartment in the very back where the bottle jack is kept.
I tow a 5,000 lb travel trailer, take your time and the Expy should tow your car fine.

Some controllers come with the harness, you specify the make / model of the truck and they provide it. At least the place I got a pair of Prodigy's did.
