Don't close the hood, REMOVE it if you crank it over. You don't really want a dent from the inside of the hood poking up from a glow plug. And make sure nothing else is in the way in case it comes out.
You will want to put the injector back in that cylinder (the idea is to use the compression do push the GP out, and without the injector in that cylinder there will be no compression), but whether you put it back in the others is up to you. If you leave them out you will pump some fuel and oil into the cylinders, but it won't hurt anything as long as you blow it out of the cylinders be cranking it with the glow plugs out of the heads before you button everything up when you're done. I would just lay the VC back over that bank, and if you can get a vice grip on the GP I would do that too so it doesn't end up inside the engine someplace. It could get sucked into the cylinder, but I would be more worried about it falling down one of the ports in the head after it is blown free of the hole.
Yeah seem to be. Got to drive to work so hopefully it will be ok. I put the hollow glow plug body back in for now. Hopefully it will stay put. I read quite a few threads about people just driving them. I don't know. I will probably end up pulling the head but I really don't have time right now. I'm working 80 hours a week.
Alright I have the head off, wooo that was a challenge... The cylinder looks ok, but there is a ton of carbon build up on the piston and valves... The other three look like new but #8 looks terrible. Any ideas...
