'76 F250, building my first Truck

After a while of poking around I finally found what I was looking for. A 1976 F250 with a 460 big block. 90k original miles and overall in pretty good shape, especially for the deal I got it at. Needs some work here and there but I am super happy with it. I have had several cars in the past but this is the first truck that I have actually purchased for myself!

So far have ordered a new steering coupler, turn signal switch, and rear window. Then its onto the fun with the motor. Pretty stoked. Here are a couple shots, and a shot of the Toy that led me to buy this new toy hauler.

That looks like a nice one and the colors match your toy.

Wow, that does look like a nice truck. You can keep the bike though. I'm too old and have nothing left to prove. If I need to go fast, I'll jump in the Chevelle with four tires on the ground and metal all around me.

Welcome,

Very nice truck, wish I'd found it myself. Where are you in Utah? I'm pretty new to this too, in Sandy and maybe we can help each other out.

Fordrucknut is in Lakepoint and has helped me out some with advise and such, I even gave him some parts I didn't need.

I'm too old also. "If I need to go fast, I'll jump in" my 76 F-250 with it's 460 stroked to 557 c.i. with even more "metal all around me".

Now you're talking... that was the reason for me finding an F250 with the 460 in it. Was looking at going with a 512/513 or larger stroker kit. Not sure I need the 557... but then again... Granted 160mph down the straight at Miller here in Salt Lake riding open air is pretty hard to beat adreneline wise. Espicially elbow to elbow with a full grid. I'm surprised my wife still puts up with me to be honest haha.

Wow... 160 on a bike that would scare the hel* out of me. I know cause I once scared myself going just 70 on a old Yamaha 360 dirt-bike.
flyin-gnome...When I had my 557 built back in 1999 it was one of the first and at the time a very expensive kit. These days the 512 and 557 stroker kits seem much more reasonably price. Jf you plan to keep the old girl a for awhile they are well worth the price of admission. With my truck it is not about top speed I'll only run it up to about 80. But with a 557, a C-6 and a 4.10 rear-end you get there mighty fast.

Haha as I said, its a horrible addiction but I love it.

Thats awesome about your 557 count me jealous! Coming from building imports and motorcycles for a while I am elated at the prices at some of the american muscle go parts that I had long forgotten about. I did some pricing on the stroker kits and found them to be reasonable for what you are getting, high end forged parts. I already have the cherry picker, stands, and engine building experience, its just time and money now haha. *just*... lol

The goal for this truck is to have a fun weekend truck/motorcycle hauler. Something I can be proud of and keep in the family possibly pass down to my son (currently 7months old haha). So we will see.

Updates for today

The truck was missing the female end to the lap belts and center belts when I purchased it although it did come with the shoulder harnesses. Luckily today I found a set at a salvage yard from a 78 F150 in matching red for 20 bucks!!! They looked grimy and gross but after a little spit shine I think they came out pretty damn good. Here are the before and after of the belts.

After

Your plans for the future of your truck sound perfect to me. Also those belts came out looking great. You must have some really good spit.

Haha thanks, they look about new and the original tags are all intact on both sides. saved me a fair amount from buying new at least.

Tomorrow the turn signal switch and steering coupler arrives and this weekend I have an appointment with a guy to draw up a custom exhaust and header set.
