Is it just my bad luck or do guys have to fix new things too. I bought the largest compressor sears had, installed it and it leaked. Soapy water blew some nice bubbles. I tried using pipe tape on the large side fitting but it tore the tape up so I will try the white liquid type.
I hear ya.
Right now I'm fixing the pool pump motor. Took it apart, found a dead snake and 2 dead lizards, along with some rust on the core and 2 bad bearings.
Took the disassembled motor into the store it was originally purchased at, right up to the "Service and Repair Center" counter, and was told "we don't fix that, but we can sell you a new motor for $300"
Stopped by a bearing supply store, and it's going to cost me $18 in new bearings to fix it.
One the bright side, the bearing supply also makes hydraulic hoses, "you buy the fittings and hose, we'll put it together for you"....so I found a place to make my power steering hoses.
Oh this is a venting thread for sure!

Dick, actually the chinese stuff is getting better, customer service is better too. English classes paid off. I order parts for my chinese junk on a toll free number and it comes from china in a week. Now all they have to do is throw in a fortune cookie and they have it made.
Did you see the test article on electric impact tools, think it was in hot rod mag. They said if you have a ton of money buy the snap on, if not the Harbor frieight is just fine.
