Suggestions for bullet proofing Help please.

So it looks like I need HG's and this is what I am looking at. I have 40K on the truck and it's bone stock.

To do list

ARP studs
Stock HG's
Oil cooler with remote filter
Exhaust system

Not sure which way to go on these yet.

EGR delete or upgrade
Which programmer

I would like to have gauges or a tuner that will show EGT's etc and I am looking for a fuel mileage tune and to turn off the check engine light if I do the EGR delete.

Is the blue spring kit worth doing?

Am I missing anything???

Thanks in advance.

HPOP fitting
blue spring kit
glow plugs and harnesses
you need a bypass coolant filter before you need a bypass oil filter.
stand pipes and dummy plugs.
injector o rings.
you throwing error code on fan clutch? P0480, i think.

egr delete will be a problem if you live in a state that does smogs.
calif. is now annual inspection on diesels.

EGR valve, if you keep the cooler.
suggestion for egr cooler is by BPD.

other folks will chime in, but this is the basics.

I live in Oregon so no smog issues. I am not throwing any codes only coolant....lol. Can you tell me why I need a remote coolant filter if I remove the EGR and the oil cooler and go to an air cooled oil system? Can you explain the dummy plugs and stand pipes? I know just enough to be dangerous. Thanks for the suggestions they help a lot.

ah. i didn't get that you were going to air cooled oil.
thought you were using OEM.

i did the bulletproof diesel oil and egr, and don't need to run
a coolant filter either. i ordered one for a simple reason:

it's $120 or so. in the grand scheme of things, if it saves me
a water pump once, it's worth it. and getting the sand out of
the system can't hurt. as soon as i've got most of the sand and
crud out, i'm switching to evans waterless coolant.

the BPD solution works well, if a bit pricy.

i'm also running a trans filter. if it extends the life of the
trans, it's $200 against a $4,000 or better repair. money well
spent to me.

not doing bypass oil at all. i'm using rotella T6, and a 5,000
mile change interval, and the BPD spin on oil filter is enormous.
it's a 32 micron filter, so it won't get out the soot, but i'm going
to use a purepower stainless steel cleanable filter, and that filters
at 22 microns @ 40 quarts a minute.

It's a legal issue rather or not you live in an area that has testing or not. That falls under federal law, not state.

Shops have closed due to fines doing delete/modification kits to emission control. Vehicle owners also get fined and I'm sure you'll have show proof of fixing that as well.
