79 Grill on a 77

Ok so my friend has a 79 grill sitting at has house and he wants to know if I want to put it on my truck. Will the grill just go right on or will i have to get a new front clip?

NO it won't go right in.You will need the head light buckets, turn signal lights and the grill shell....and yes all this will bolt right in. How do I know, cause I did it. Popa John

It has the shell and the insert, and the head light bezel. All that I will need is the lights. I was just wondering if it will fit before I take mine apart.

Make sure you save as many nuts and bolts as you can off the old grille. Good luck and I know you will like this look a LOT better. It won't look so busy in the front. Cleaner is what I am trying to say. Popa John

I just did mine the other way around 76 grill n a 79 core support it's not to crazy hard to do. If ya need any help just give a yell and I can talk ya thru it. you'l ned the fender to core support plate's aswell as he head light bucket's off a 78/79. I've got them if you need them.

Is there any difference between the hood and fenders in 77 versus the 79?

the hood's & fender's are the same but the F O R D lettering is on the front of the hood for the 78/79 and on 73-77 the lettering is in the upper portion of the grill it's self

You have a couple option's
1. you would have to measure & drill a couple little hole's for each letter
2. you could cut the tab's off & use some heavy duty body glue to stick them on.
3. yeah just swap hood's.
4. bring it up & I'll trade ya your 77 core support, grill, insert's, head light bucket's (if in good shape) and whatever else we need and I'll swap ya for the front clip for the the super nice 78 I just bought for part's
