My Dad Almost Got Robbed

Here's the story as my Dad puts it, he's in Florida, and I'm still in CT until June.

He was working at his makeshift shop, in a storage unit where he "piddles" around all day, working on his projects, (Antiques for Ebay, junk for local auctions, making custom canes and smoking because he told his wife he quit )

A guy drives up in a ratty car (with an accomplice that won't face my dad) and he can tell he's trying to say something but he can't hear. So after getting frustrated he walked right up to the car and got in the guys face...... The guy says, "Give me all your money."
My Dad laughs and says, "Buddy, I ain't got any."

Again the guy says, "Give me all your money."

My Dad again repeats himself.

The guy asks him what he's doing here then.

My father explains that he just piddles around here all day.

Appearantly the guy took off after this.

As it goes my dad said he thought it was someone his friend knew (the owner of the unit) that was just screwing around, upon realizing they weren't, he got kinda worried and for his wifes sake, who is also there by herself sometimes, they're moving units to a gated one.

Keep in mind my Dad carries his .38 with him everywhere, but he usually leaves in his brief case, inside his truck (because the law in Fla. is something like 3-steps and it's legal without a permit) Well, for whatever reason he doesn't bring it in the unit with him which bothers me, he says he'd have told the guy the money was in his brief case and then got it, but I still worry now. At least, I'd feel better if he'd take it in with him.

In florida the gun has to be "Securly Encased" meaning that it has to be in a zippered gun case, snapped in a holster, in a locked glove box, or say in your tool box in the back...

Yeah, he keeps it in a case, I guess that's the one step (unzipping) the other would be reaching for the brief case, the next popping it open. Pretty vague law, although it's probably been updated since my father last went over it with me. He has one of those fanny packs where the back peels open to the gun as well.
