I've been having issues with my ac system not blowing much air. Today I decided to pull the blower fan and take a look. It looks to me as if the evap is completely packed full of dirt and won't allow air to flow through it well. So my question is: how hard is it to pull that thing out for cleaning? Does anyone know of a write up on this? Any help would be appreciated thanks. It looks like a booger.
I finally got mine clean through the blower motor opening, it took several tries with different cleaning solutions and compressed air. Turns out if you take the fender liner out its not that hard to get the whole housing out though.
Hi,
There is a product made for cleaning the evaporator. You should be
able to find this at a heating supply co. It mixes with water and
you spray that on and it foams up. They also have a spray can type.
It may cost more that way though. The stuff is really good for
dirty coils. Even if the compound does not make things clean the
first try it will soften the mud and make it easier to shop-vac it out.
A little update. I pulled the fan and worked that evap over with a blower nozzle and a shop vac. Seems that's all I had to do she's good as new. The sad thing is I've been fighting this for a couple years. What a easy fix.
