PHP & Banks Transcommand

So I finally got off my dead *** and purchased the PHP 6 position chip to replace the old gold chip my truck had when I bought it. My truck already had the Banks transcommand installed when I got it. Can I leave the transcommand on with the PHP chip or not? If not, how do I go about taking it out? I searched the transcommand and only found that I can either jump it with a wire or ask banks for a wire kit, or different posts about the "cure" that I know nothing about.

I'm hoping the PHP chip is a big improvement over the superchips gold chip I already have. I only have 137000 on the truck and dont really want to pay for a new tranny anytime soon.

I just ordered the chip today and want to install it as soon as it gets here so
I need a little help here.
Thanks

I'd call banks for a set of install instructions and then do the reverse. If your any good at wiring it shouldn't be an issue.

Yeah, You do not want to leave it in. The chip will take care of the trans now.

If the banks transcommand is anything like the cure then you will have to put the plug, that's in the rear of the trans, back to stock. For the cure I had to change around some of the pins in the plug. Do what bad12 suggested.

From the looks of it on my truck and on the banks website it is only wired in. So if I cut the wires and color code them back together I should be okay, right?

That'd be correct. Some solder and heat shrink should fix it right up.

Got the chip and threw it in the truck. Called PHP, they said I should take the Banks out but that it would run ok with it in. Took it for a spin. I'm not gonna lie. I'm a little disappointed. Maybe I was expecting too much or maybe the old gold superchips is just a better product than everyone says it is. I still have the stock injectors so the highest setting I have on the chip is the 80 horse performance. The only difference that I can really tell is when I really get on it, it puts out a lot more smoke now.
I called Banks and ordered the bypass plug. It wasnt free like I was hoping. $21 later and it arrived on my doorstep today.
I've only taken it on one drive so I'm going to put the plug in and take it out tonight and see how it does.

I really liked php's 100 hp perf tune. Was great dd tune with little smoke. You may have a slightly weak hpop and the more agressive tune is taxing it. Which can cause less pressure more smoke and slight lose in power.

The old super chips, who Bill used to work for (iirc), ran really high timing in the tuning. (memory again not sure if i'm right)

It gives the effect of more power, but is really hard on your motor and usually the reason people put holes in the side of the block to view the connecting rods.

Timing is one of those odd things that can be good and bad.
The super chips ran really really high EGT's compared to conventional tuning.

I've rode in a truck with a super chip and did not care for it.

My 100 hp tune smokes so bad. haha.

I stopped using my 80 hp tune, i get better fuel mileage on my 100hp tune.

The 80 is nice when you dont wanna send up a smoke signal to all cops in the area though.

I dont think anything is wrong with my HPOP. I'm just saying I think I was expecting a small miracle of power or something.

I dont have any complaints about the superchip. The truck ran great on it, I just thought that the new chip would be a day/night difference.

I did go for a ride with the transcommand disconnected last night though. Ran great, shifted quite a bit softer than with the transcommand.

My AA's would hardly ever smoke. The ad's are a different story. If I get a mosquito problem I can solve it.

Soft is not always good, my racer x value body gives me firm, quick shifts. It saves on the clutches slipping and wearing out.

FWIW, Jim stopped carrying tunes from PHP for anything over stage 1's and an auto trans.

I dont think their shift programing would necessarily be the best was the idea behind that.

That and a lot of people drop in huge injectors and never think about their trans.

In all honesty, your probably getting more efficiency out of your tunes than power vs the super chip.
If you want some unf, you'll have to drop in some stage 1's.
Its sooooo worth it too.

I love my 20-22 mpg. =)
