Just nice to see a younger fella see the beauty in these old rigs. I always got teased in high school for my taste in vehicles. My nova also whooped any punk in there daddy's diesel have fun, we're rootin for ya!
Before ya buy it, check for stuff like holes in the floor and body, how the frame is, if it runs. Make a list of all the MAJOR stuff it needs to actually start, run, go and stop again, or atleast road worthy and safety possible. Once you've done that, find out where to get those parts and at what cost. I know LMC Truck and National Parts Depot are 2 good places. Check local wreckin yards too for body parts. The 360 motor, havent really heard about that motor, never knew ford made a 360 actually, and i bleed blue. If your goin to convert it to somethin else, go with a midly modified 302, probubly give you better gas mileage. If it's really what you want and your've got the time, space, money and knowledge to do it, Go for it!
I've heard 360's were some of the gas chuginest motors that ford ever made, but i don't know that to be a fact. I'd offer the guy $600, and go from there, scrap price has dropped a lot latley, and it looks like that truck needs quite a bit of work. Make sure you have another vehicle to drive while your workin on that thing though... it sucks trying to work on your driver... you always run out of time, and have to throw it together enough to go for that day...
All the advice here is sound, but I would like to add a little different perspective. While it's true you can't beat dependable transportation, especially to get you back and forth to the job you're going to need to pay for gas and parts, I think there is something being overlooked here. You're 15, I'm assuming unmarried, no children, live at home, no mortgage, no grocery, utility bills -- Man, if there is ever going to be a time in your life to buy this truck, it's right now. Or, you can look back 20 years from now and think about that running FE 4x4 you could have had for $1000 and regret not buying it.
about how much will it cost to make this truck look OK no major mods or anything and defiantly not to show room quality but looking not so rusty. i have access a shop that is used by my grandfather and he works on his trucks/tractors sometimes so i can use it for some basic work on the body and frame. the owner says that the motor runs but needs new fluids. So about how much would it cost to clean this truck up? Sorry about the vagueness but this is all i know at this point in time.

It all depends on the shape of the parts. But, by the look of that truck... I'm willing to say a few grand.
New rims- $500 to $1000
New tires- $700 to $1200
Body shop paint job - $2000+ (might need body work done to it)
Walmart spray can paint job- Priceless
Interior redone- $1000
Let me tell you what my father told me at 15, when I got my first car and started driving. He said; you can either get a job making enough to pay someone else to take care of your vehicle, or you can learn to do it yourself. The first repair on my first car cost me $200. I watched the mechanic do it all. Back then they didn't mind if you stood in the bay and watched. I decided right then and there that I could do it myself and save myself the labor cost. I have also found along the way that the majority of it is not that difficult, but rather just another learning experience. I am currently teaching myself how to do body work, welding, and painting on my truck. I say start your own project thread and take plenty of pictures as you go along. Here's mine, to give you a little push along; https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...build-log.html Good luck with your new project.
Dont think you will get a girl with the truck.hard to find a good gal who has good taste today. Most like them big diesels that blow smoke and are jacked up and has leather seats for their tushes to be comfortable on and an AC with heater.

The first time that truck whips a Chevy out in the mud he won't have any problems gettin the chickies, regardless of how the truck looks. They'll come a runnin half undressed!

Aint that the truth! I took a girl out in my dent and told her it had 2-60 AC. Needless to say she didnt last long lol. On a side note keep the 360. Swap the crank and pistons and boom! Youll have a 390. You can pull a tree from the ground with that thing. FE's ftw.
If a girl don't lIke my truck... then well that is her problem. also I live in SC so trucks are a plus no matter what I will love my truck as long as it is a ford even if chicks don't dig it
