If you leave it STOCK, pay attention to your coolant levels and condition, and provide regularly scheduled maintenance by the book you should be just fine Mark. Don't be afraid to push it either, they love being driven hard.
Welcome to FTE btw.
Read then read some more, there's a great education here.

Welcome,
From reading all the things that can go wrong would be scarry to think that you bought the bad one. I have a friend who bought a 2008 6.4 new from the dealer back in 2008. He has had one issue with it. The day he brought it home he parked it. Went back outside to start it up and it would not start. It ended up being a injector fuel line thing that went wrong. He has never had anything else go wrong with it. He uses it as a daily driver and tows with it. He pushes that truck and has had no other issues. Just remember the diesels do not like to sit you have to use them.

I think it is just luck of the draw with any vehicle or year of any engine or manufacture. They sold alot of them. They would not have sold so many if the issues were so great that people would not buy them.
Are there things that can be improved on yes. But why dont you drive it and enjoy it. If something happens then deal with it.

If you want you can get an OASIS report from someone on here (do some research). It will tell things if any about what troubles your vehicle had and what the dealers did.
Just enjoy it..

thanks v10villa

this truck has 163000 kls on it and has be serviced by the ford dealer by the orginal owner . I had my friendly dealer pick it up for me and he also traced the history from the ford dealer localy. I think the only thing it will need by this fall is tires.

A younger guy that works for me has had his 08 F350 6.4 dually since new. His parents own a few farms so it pulls at the limits and then some regularly. Has around 95k on it and, other than a factory warranty replaced radiator, has had 0 problems with it.

Keep in mind that most do not post at length unless they're having problems so never assume that all trucks are bad based on what you might read here.
