Well I went and did it....i traded in my 2001 350 for a 2012 250.
its weird....i felt good about my decision last night as i was cleaning out Clifford (the kids named it after the big red dog because he is a big red truck). I even took my last oil analysis and wrote a note to the new owners on the back and stuck it in the owners manual. I explained about the mods i had done and reffered him to our wonderful forum here.
but as i was driving to the dealer a little while ago i felt a little sick to my stomach almost like i was driving my old dog to the vet to be put to sleep (not that clifford needs to be...he was completely health)....or leaving him at the pound.
its a good thing the wife and kids were not with me...they would have cried letting him go. he will be missed....
Congrats on the new purchase. It is hard to upgrade from a good truck. I went through the same thing when I traded my '92 F-150 for my '02 F-350. I am much happier now though!
i just read that and it sounds like im really bummed...
im not...im real excited about the new truck....
just sad to see clifford go.
I'll still be hanging out here.....you havent gotten rid of me
LOL... I know the feeling... I could never get rid of the GBB (Great Big B....) and I could never get another truck with the blue interior that I love so much...
I STILL to this day regret getting rid of my 97... Both kids came home from the hospital in it...
White Platinum....it was down to that or the autum red (which is close to Bama's colors) or they had an autum red/adobe king ranch...dont like the painted rear bumper on those.
this one was the only one that had all of my wants....except the tailgate step. which in the end i think i am happy not to get it. im too lazy to take the time to put the step down...i would just climb in. plus i was unloading 80lb bags of concrete out of the old truck this past weekend and as i slip them from the bed to the tailgate i realized the step would probably hinder that.

That step is a cute toy... Every truck I have seen with it out here in the field, it was broke.
I guess you don't pull as much as you did. I don't know if I could go to a F250 after my dually.
its gonna be tough losing the stability of a long bed dually. my current camper is only 10K lbs....but at 36ft (bumper pull) i hope the tail doesnt wag the dog too bad.

I pull my 34' TT with my 250... No issues, and I am on 37's... You have better suspension with the new truck too!

I'm sure you will feel a little wag at first but will get used to it.
After I went to my dually from my 99 SRW, I could tell I had some wag going on with the SRW. I was just used to it.
I hear those 6.7 really pull.
I load feed into trucks all day and I can tell you now, if you use the bed a lot, the little step on the tailgate will be in the way. I see them all the time full of dirt and crap.
That is a nice lookin truck!
I see these new trucks all the time and think they look great with some add-ons but I just cannot bring myself to pay what they are asking for them.I do not need anything new anyways beings mine gets used for farm, hunting and fishing....It is a tool and has been paid for a long time.
I would have to take a ball peen hammer to it before it left the lot because I know it would get scratched or dented right off the bat.
I guess that would end my wrenching career and I could sell all of my tools and buy beer and shrimp

Don't sell the tools Barry. You can always help me wrench on my truck.
It would cost me over 60k to get the truck I have now.
Well Shawn it will be good to see ya on the 6.7 forum, lots of good guys over there too. I still hang here because it could not part with my old 7.3 and handed it down to my son so I still read almose every post just to try to stay on top of everything.
You will really love the way the 6.7 pulls it is a BEAST!!
