My daughter did it a couple of years ago. It was a big party weekend there with food and beer vendors, bands, and tons of people.
She really had a blast and was leading her age group right up until the competition ended.
She said it wasn't that hard overall (she ran cross-country on her HS team at the time) and she didn't really push that hard in terms of truly competing in an effort to win because she just wasn't sure what she would come across as obstacles.
bunches of folks took it very seriously and other bunches much less so. Many dressed in funny costumes or body paint. It was set up so there were many vantage points at which we could catch a glimpse of her running past.
Go for it! But just enjoy the experience your first time out.
Well, take advantage of it now, as I believe this outfit moves around and does not often hold the event in the same place twice in a row. Each course is different based on terrain, etc. I especially liked watching my daughter crawl through the long mud pit then run through the fire at the end.
She really had a blast. I would think if you had a buddy or buddies that were interested as well it would add to the fun. I know she was somewhat regretful she wasn't able to talk one of her friends into doing it as well so they could share the experience.
