Need opinions on a 2001 V10 Ex Ltd

I am thinking about picking up this Ex for towing my 31' travel trailer. It seems super clean and well maintained. What are everyones thoughts on the price/value of this? Everything seems to work and it drives well. I will be installing a sway bar and shocks shortly after I get it, so thats probably another 500 - 700 bucks. Tires are new. Seems like the diesels are about $15k, but I prefer gas this time around. It has 122k miles. Thanks for the input.

It looks clean for sure. I would offer 9K and go up from there.

I would look into those tires. Are they load range E?

Seems a bit pricey for 11 yr. truck.

From the info I found online, the tires appear to be E rated. I will verify this afternoon at the dealership. They are budget tires, but seem to have good reviews. I have some equity in my truck so I'll be picking this up for 7500 difference.

Any thoughts or worries on the miles? Seems like a well-kept v10 can go 200k+. My daily drive to work is about 3 miles round trip, so the miles will add up slow. The camper (seasonal site) is 110 miles away. I wont be towing regularly but want to keep the ability to move it safely.

I wouldn't worry about miles as long as it was well maintained.

One other thing I would ask the dealer is to give you 2 working PATS keys and fobs. That way if you want to add additional keys, you can buy the blank PATS key from Ebay and program it yourself.

What are PATS? I think it has 2 keys and 1 fob. I'd like to get a 2nd fob but its not too big of a deal for me. Thanks.

PATS keys are the keys with the RFID chip inside which will allow the engine to start when it is in close proximity of the receiver. That key in the picture with the black plastic is a PATS key.

Thanks. It's got two of those and one fob. Are the fobs expensive to replace? It's be nice to have one for the wife, but not critical.

Fobs are easy to program. Just have all the fobs you want (including the original one ready) when you program them. You'll need to program the original one back in as you are adding the new one.

Some folks get tired of losing keys and just place the PATS key chip near the lock cylinder and just use standard metal Ford keys. $1 or so at Walmart to get a new one cut and you can go swimming with it in yout pocket.

The downside is all you need to do is turn the lock cylinder with a screwdriver and you can start it and drive off.

They were an option until later years.

I got my 2000 Ltd V10 in December 2011 for $6,995
Oh yea and it had 112,500 on it. Mine is also super clean and well maintained. The tires on mine were total crap, but the point is that '01 should be way closer to $7K than $10K.

The Ford service manual has a huge list of stuff that needs doin' at 120K miles... has all that been done?

I got a FOB off eBay for $5... programmed it myself, works great. Mine didn't come with a FOB.

EDIT: this is the one I bought, the price went up a little... it's still a screaming deal
