Our new trailer

Hope y'all can see that.

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1&l=709848a733

Bought it today. Pick it up next week.

Anyway, I can drag it home with my Ranger, but the dedicated tow rig is the Expedition. I just need to find a brake controller for it and wire it in.

If anyone has an idea of where the prewiring is on an 06 Expedition, could you please chime in? I'm gonna check the Expy forum anyway...

Nice unit.
That is going to be cold in BC winters won't it? LOL
How heavy are those camp trailers? I just use a POD controller on all my stuff. Not expensive but they work good. They stop my 10,000TT OK.
If you have a factory tow package the wires should be somewhere in the front of the vehicle. I quit wiring myself & take mine to a shop & let them do it. The last one I had installed was my Dodge & it cost me like $60 labor. My tired old body won't twist under dashes anymore.

It's rated at 2786 gvw. 1764 dry. The cheaper, smaller one we almost got is rated at 2148.

Winters can get cold, but there's a heater in it. Hehe. Probably won't be doing any snow camping, but some places we've gone in the past for Easter weekend there's been frost in the morning.

I have a Reese controller in my Ranger, took my brother in law and I a couple hours to install it in 04, as there was nothing in the way of wiring. At least with the Expedition, it's prewired (or so it appears). But if it comes down to it, I can still bring it home with the Ranger.

Nice! This is what I like to see is people getting out and taking the family camping. Over the years, there is nothing better. Use it, and use it often. I was told that by an ole timer when I bought my first RV many years ago. I took his word and it and believe it to this day.

Had a rockwood just like it years ago when the kids were young and to this day my master-degreed executive type daughter still talks about "remember when we were camping in the old popup and ..."

as someone said - go out and make memories cuz you never know what tomorrow will bring !

Yep, it's got electric trailer brakes. Comes standard, I think.

One thing I have to check into though is if it has an inverter, so I can run the fridge on battery power. There's shore power, battery power and propane, but I don't know if the fridge is switched for 12v.

Most RV fridges run on propane or 115vAC.. To run one off the battries would kill the battries very quickly.

The "book" should help ya out.

My 1994 Prowler was tri-power. Never had a battery problem. Most all newer RV's are only duel power (ac/propane).

I'd only need to run on the inverter when we're rolling down the road, and then the battery is getting a charge from the truck anyway.

We'll see.

If you have the tow pkg, the connector is up above the accelerator pedal, just right of the OBD port. Pretty easy to access from under the dash.

Found the connector. I ordered the adapter plug and controller yesterday, but the adapter plug never came in. Controller came in today though, got the 7 way plug and 2" ball yesterday. Just need the truck adapter plug, a couple relays and a couple fuses.

Still have to look into what relay I need for R201, and why the 30 amp maxifuse doesn't look like a maxifuse.
