blown spark plug f250
2002 f250 5.4 liter .blew out spark plug while driving down road.Ford mechanic told me this happens alot. I was told there is a fix kit just for this problem,a helicoil.this is crazy any one else had this problem???

yes it can happen..
usualy a result of plugs not being tightened to torque specs when changed.
there are several kits avialable to repair it. there is even a mobile guy on the internet who will come fix your engine in your driveway.
cant remember his name offhand, but im sure someone will pop in here and give you the website.
i was under the impression that Ford now sells a kit to fix the issue aswell.
if your going to have it repaired i would have ALL the plugs changed and make sure they are replaced with the correct torque value installed.
ps use OEM Motorcraft plugs aswell..known history with the mod motors (your truck) not liking aftermarket plugs.
anyways hope that helps.

Here is a good tread to check out. Most people seem to use the Timesert kit to fix the treads. The kit is a bit expensive, but will come in handy for the future. Also do a youtube search for the timesert repair for a video on how to do it. It is a common problem when the plugs are not done right.

My dads v-10 decided last week it only wanted 9 plugs. At the mechanic right now, has been told somewhere in the $2000 range. I told him he did good, had 270,000 miles on the truck before it happened. I was going to fix it for him but the time frame was shorter then I could do it in, my dad needs the truck back right away.
