Well, after much going back & forth, the deal I was making for the 86 150 fell through...owner had to move down south and we both mutually agreed to bag it..bummer! Anyway, now I'm back looking for an 85 or86 250 4x4 but simply cannot find any! Anyone here have any tips or links to where to look? Ebay is out, I won't ever go back there. By the way, my budget is 5 grand...thanks!
Roger
Yea, I've tried the Ebay route, but I've all but given up on them...80% of the vehicles on there are misrepresented and I've been burned way too many times to go back. BITD, I had 7 ebay accounts with a total of well over 25,000 99.9% positive but I've given up on them as both a buyer & seller. I can go on & on about them but this isn't the place for that.
Anyway, I've been checking CL and they seem to have the best selection but I'm really looking for a restored or good rust-free 4x4 150 or 250. Most of them on CL seemed to have been worked pretty hard. It seems that this generation of trucks has a much fewer survivors than say, the '92-97 generation trucks. Weird.
Anyway I'm in CT..would travel about 300 miles or so to buy one, but I've had great luck having vehicles shipped so I'll probably go that route once I find it.

Sorry to hear it fell through. But, how is it weird that later trucks have more survivors? Wouldn't that be ...... obvious?

Well, a friend and me were having this same discussion yesterday and we've concluded that it is probably because later gen trucks were made slightly more plush and appealed to both work vehicles and homeowner vehicles. I myself have owned about 12-15 92-97's that have had an easy life-every single one of them an XLT. All the XL's that I've seen have been thrashed-out to oblivion. So unless I find a Lariet, which is fine, by the way, I don't expect to find any 'creampuffs' (I hate that term) out there. But I'll keep looking!

There's more later trucks because they were made later. Most of the bullnose trucks have either been crushed or just rusted into the ground by now. Yeah the later trucks were a bit more luxurious inside, but nothing really to write home about.
Rusty followed me home from a CL ad that a young man posted. But Brownie and the '82 Explorer were found via local newspaper ads. I'm guessing that many older people who have these trucks don't do CL when it comes time to sell.
