I have taken notice that on the SD and X line of trucks 05-07 that sometimes either the front bumper or grille seems to not match up a 100% with each other. My case is the grille. For some reason one side of my grille seems to be pushed back a little further in from the opposite side. Does anyone know if this is due to Ford's lack in aligning certain things and if it is something that can be adjusted?
I know Ford dun messed up on the front doors of the 05 Limited X's as the bottom portion of the doors seem to stick out a bit and don't line up correctly with the rear doors. This is what is leading me to think Ford may have messed up with the front clip of the 05 X's as well. At this point I'd like to at least have my grille a bit more even vs one side tucked under the hood more than the other side.
Darn I was hopin at least one or a few 05 X folks would be able to gimme a run down of the area to look to in making any kind of adjustment. My passenger side of the grille is tucked a little too way under the hood by maybe an inch or two?
Everything body wise on pretty much any vehicle is "adjustable".
As far as your situation for one side of the grill sticking out further than the other. There are 4 bolts in the header panel, two on each side about where the grill ends. The bolts hold the header panel to a metal bracket which attaches to the truck. Where the metal bracket attaches to the truck can be adjusted back and forth from passenger to drivers side. The other end of the metal brackets (part that bolts to header panel) is where the forward and back adjustments are for each side. Just loosen the top or bottom bolt and push or pull on the header panel to move it where you want.
The metal brackets are just inside of the headlights, between the headlights and radiator/coolers.
I can't find pics. This is th only pic I could find that shows the brackets. They are mounted on the back of the header panel with two bolts in each. Those two bolts are the adjustment forward and back. The other side of the bracket mounts to the truck and that is where the horizontal adjustment is.
So if I mess with the brackets does it effect the headlights? everything seems to be spot on. Bumper, headlights, etc etc, the only thing is one side of the grille needs to be brought out more vs being pushed in more. The opposite side is normal with how far out it is but the side that is more in is what needs to be brought out a little. Will messing with the brackets cause me to need to re-align the headlights as well? or is it possible for me to just tweak the grille alone and bring it out a litte?
