Do you have a wire rope store near by?. Im sure if you look around you can find some where thatll crimp another end on it for you. Your local nut and bolt house probably has the end and a crimp tool for a lot less than a new winch. Theres lots of ways to fix cut cable. While you got it out pry off the star key and then you can use a 1/2 inch socket iirc to get your spare down.
