Small C6 Torque Converter

Small C6 Torque Converter
I have a 72 F-100 302 with a small block C6 behind it. I put a moderate cam in the engine and it hauls once you get going, but it is a dog from a standstill. Comp cams recommends a converter with a stall of 2200+ with this cam and I am sure the stock one is well below that. My real problem is that I haven't been able to find what torque converters would be compatible with my setup. I'm not sure if it has a C6 input shaft and a small block bolt pattern? Will a Regular C6 converter work? Also, are there any common torque converters out there with a stall of 2200+ that I could pick up used for pretty cheap?

1) Don't buy a used TC. How do you know it's not full of ground up transmission from the prior use?
2) More slip = more heat. Thus, a bigger cooler will not hurt anything, as it sounds like you're going to run the wee out of it anyway.
3) Sure it's a C6? All one piece, all aluminum, 17 bolts in the pan like so:

4) There are a couple of different crank pilot sizes for the C6. You'll need to know which one you have and if you don't know, you'll have to take it apart to find out.
These guys sell TCs, read their propaganda. And remember, it's not so good to pay too much, but you can also pay too little and end up with a junk transmission as part of the "bargain":
Torque Converters - TCI® Auto
C4 C6 Performance Transmission from PATC, C6 Transmission
C-6 - FORD - Torque Converters - B&M - SummitRacing.com

What about remanned TCs? Anything will probably be better than what is in it, it may be one out of an RV. It feels like it locks up so low.
I am sure it is an N code servo C6. It took me a couple return trips to the local store to get the right pan gasket because I had just assumed it had a C4.
I found another thread that said a 302 used the small input shaft.
I have been looking at the B&M tork master. Anyone have any experience with these? If it says it stalls from 1900-2100 I figured with my heavy truck it would probably be at the very top end of the range but maybe i should just get the 2200-2400 one? This truck will never have to pull anything but itself. I just want to get some good advice so I don't end up getting the wrong one. I have too many stories about me getting the wrong size.
The good thing I have seen about the bigger trans coolers is that they are pretty cheap, mounting it will be a pita though.

Remanned is ok, as long as it's a reputable company with a warranty and a track record.
Another thing to consider is your gearing and tire size. You don't want a stall speed that's higher than your cruise RPMs.
AFAIK, stock might be about 1800 RPMs.
When I search for the pilot size, 1.375 keeps coming up as the size for the SBF.
Some sellers will recommend a TC based on your set up.
Another outfit, just for grins:
