I got a used hpop from a superduty to use as a core. Are the ipr's the same as the obs? Does it matter what ipr I use? The one that is currently on my truck is brand new and the one from the core is a superduty and used which should I use?
I got most of the oil out of the res. when I take off the cover plate on the front, is when the mess happens. Correct? I have looked for torque #'s on the hpop mounting bolt but came up empty. Anyone happen to know what they are. I know the gear bolt it 95 ftlbs.
Thanks fellas have an awesome and safe memorial day weekend!!!
18 lbs or so for the mounting bolts. Use a bit of anti seize on those threads. Be gentle. If you pumped most of the oil out of the reservoir. If your removing the reservoir too, I would, you can get any residual fluid out before you remove the cover plate. IIRC the IPR is the same for 96-03 engines. Use the newer one.
There is probably and inch or soo of oil left in the res. I am goin to finish pumping it out. Should I use some sort of gasket sealer on the hpop gasket I don't remember seeing anyone use it, only on the front cover plate I saw some rtv. Thanks for the info!!
Can't wait to get this beast put back together!!! Anyone with the t-500 notice any difference with it and stock injectors. I kept throwing the p1211 code after I got my F-6 chip. Between the t-500, quick spool turbo housing and intercooler I am hoping to see some significant changes!!
I used a few dabs of vaseline to hold the gasket to the HPOP
Thanks for the tip!!
Hoping to get most of this project done this weekend. Waiting for some donut gaskets to come in on Tuesday but everything else should be ready to go!!
I had a lot of P1211's but after the T500 install I haven't had any. BUT, the tunes make a difference also. Most of my P1211's were on Tony's chip and with Bean's chip I haven't had any. I hope that makes sense?
Also, I like to take the res off so I can see what is going on when I loosen that big bolt. Be very gentle with the two HPOP bolts, don't over tighten them.
Got the old hpop out and had to swap the fittings on the t-500. It had them push-on deleos. I prefer the screw on type. How about you guys. Too me about 1/2 hr to get it out. Why in the world do they have to put the coolant hose/fitting right in front of the gear bolt plate!!!! Hopefully it goes in as easy as it came out. Lol. I didn't take off the res just drained it very little mess. The old craftsman shop vac a mason jar and some hoses worked great. Took a little while but did the trick!!
Be real careful with those fittings on the pump. Joey uses Locktite 680 on those. As you should on the JIC fittings off your old pump. Take a pic of the orientation of the fittings before you remove them. Not to long ago a guy took out those fittings and the threads came out with them.
Them babies were tight but they came off. Got them swapped out. It almost looked like the ones that Joey had in had been in there a long time. Looked corroded, had that powdery white with a green tint. Maybe he couldn't got the old ones off idk. They are swapped and ready!!
That sucks!!! I used a very small dot of rtv to hold the gasket in place since I didn't remove my Fpr and it took some fandangling to get the new one in. Worked great!! It's in and ready!! As soon as I can get them dang y collector bolts off. What the heck size are they. My 10mm slipped the 3/8 too small. What are they a 13/32. 7/16 is too big!! Hmmmm weird!! I should get my Chevy 350 donuts in on tuesday for my uppipes. Once those get changed its all down hill from there. If only I could get them dang bolts off. That y collector slides up and down like crazy!!!
