Any one know how to get some seroius, reliable power out of a 4.0L? We are building a desert racer (200 to 400 miles of beating at a time) so we need it reliable. I'm having a hard time finding parts and when I do they are really expensive.

While I have no experience actually doing this, I have an idea that you might look into. If you installed some late model (95-97) heads on an engine with early shallow dish pistons (90-94), this should increase the compression ratio. How much, I dont know, you'll have to research it. Beyond that, I would suggest an aftermarket performance cam. I would strongly suggest having a custom computer chip burnt for your specific application. Maybe someone else can provide more specifics? If we run the 4.0, it's looking like we are going to do the head swap with a newer year, port 'em, cam package, Roller rockers, custom chip. If we can find an intake, we'll probably do that too. The problem is that there aren't a whole lot of people who make parts for these things.
