fuel filtration idea

ok i have an idea i am going to try unless you guys think its absolutely dumb i am going to bolt a stock filter right where the water separator used to be and it would be before my new electric fuel pump that i should receive by ups tomorrow so technically with the pumps micron filter the fuel would be filtered 3 times before hitting the ip... and other than the initial purchase of the filters i plan on just switching the final filter to the first filters spot each oil change, does anyone think this is a bad idea? or what?.... the reason i plan on doing this is to help prolong my ip, and injectors and e-pumps life

Electric fuel pump under hood = bad idea they dont last long pulling that distance from the tank.
If your gonna run electric down best place is down on the frame close to the switching valve. filter after the pump.
what kind of filter you going with i hope a spin on filter like 5 micron.
are you having problems with dirty fuel now? or are you running wmo.
Im running a 93 f350 idi using w85 and im running stock everything.
but im filtering in my shop down to 5 micron. no problems
if you do go electric pump make darn sure you eliminate your stock lift pump. (small block ford block off plate at any auto parts store) makes a clean job. you can also use BB cheby plate too.
make sure your new pump doesnt push more than 7lbs of fuel pressure.thats all the injector pump will handle.
are you going electric due to hard start up?

I am going to go ahead and place it under hood.... Thought I was buying one that was designed like that.... Anyway I will replace it with the facet duralift when it does go out.... So it will be ok..... I have a expensive crappy fuel pump from advance.... And I already have new o rings from type4 I just havent installed them yet

installed everything today... currently the e-pump is under the hood i put in the new o-rings from type4 i actually have enough power to break the tires loose on dry pavement... white smoke is next to gone its a really really small amount, i am gonna try turning the pump up just a flat or 2 and see if i can get a little more power out of her... i am still having trouble with my egt gauge i checked all the wiring everything is connected i have a good ground good power wire the needle shakes and it goes way higher than what the egt is at because if it was that high my pistons would be a puddle in the oil pan. any ideas? its a bullydog gauge, when i don't have the controller hooked up, I haven't tried unhooking the probe from the control unit yet... but other than the control unit failing idk what else to check!!!

also other than the pressure port where the oil pressure switch is are there any other high pressure ports, also other than the one on the oil cooler i want to run an external oil cooler with another oil filter pre external oil cooler, to lower oil temps a little and also if it works the way i want i want it as my pre cooled and re-filtered oil for the turbo!

Honestly, I think you are over-engineering the fuel and oil systems. Under normal conditions, there is no need to modify the stock configuration. Just think what would happen if the turbo oil filter got clogged. Your turbo would roast and you would be looking at a rebuild, minimum. This is one reason I did not choose to modify the turbo oil supply system. I could see a small, easy to change in-line filter before the pump but anything more complicated than that would just restrict flow, add complexity and cost. If you want to help the oil system, run the FL-1995 PSD oil filter for more capacity and filter media. These trucks are rock solid because they are simple. The more you add, the more potential for failure you have. The only additional filter I have is a coolant filter, which is a good idea for maintaining a clean coolant system.

Also, when I make UMO, I pre-filter it to 1 micron before adding it to the tank. Anything under 10 micron will flow through the IP and injectors. I don't worry about any large contaminates that may enter the UMO in transportation because they are usually minimal and will get easily filtered out in the stock setup. I am talking about things like dirt or pet hair, etc.

i am already running the powerstroke oil filter on it, i have heard it would not be a bad idea to run something like 25 micron oil filter for the turbo, if i did my idea i would run another oil pressure gauge that would be after the filter for the turbo, and i would also have on hand valves a bypass incase i was in the middle of no where and my oil pressure for the turbo dropped to fast!

How dirty is the oil in your truck, anyway? You change it every 5000 miles and check it/add every fill up or so, right? If I can trust the oil in my crankcase to lubricate all the bearings and rods in my engine, I can certainly trust it to lubricate the turbo as well.

reading specs on everything including turbo lubrication specs it says for optimal life on a turbo filter oil down to less than 25 microns, also i feel that if i add another oil filter it will extend the life expectancy of not only the turbo but also the engine itself
