oil pressure issue

hi i got a 1996 E350 that has no oil pressure, what ive done is pulled the oil pressure sensor out of the top of the hpop resevoir and put a guage on it and started the truck on brake clean, no pressure, and the hpop resevoir is empty and wont fill with oil, next i pulled the oil filter off and yet again started the truck on brake clean, very little oil coming from houseing, and i mean very little! my thought is it is the lpop has failed any body else have any ideas as to what it might be? i also tried the guage on another 7.3L through that sonsor and it was idling at 15 Psi at full operating temp, so i definetly got an issue

LPOP would be my first guess, but that's just a guess.

I've never replaced the LPOP on a PSD, so I don't want to give any false info. One of the guys with the knowledge on this will chime in I'm sure.

I was always told to remain silent and be thought of as a fool, or speak and remove all doubt.......so I better remain silent! LOL!!

Could be a restriction in whatever passage moves the oil from the lube pump (LPOP) to the HPOP reservoir.

Did you do a oil change before this happened?

A little more info would help. Like did it die while driving, killed it and it wouldn't start back. Anything that you can think of will help us more. There is a couple of thing that will not let it build oil pressure.

no the oil was not changed before it happened, it was running perfect one day, then parked over night, then next morning would not start, hpop resevoir was empty, and i seen a bunch of oil residue around pump, so i took it off and resealed everything, still would not start after, no low pressure oil still, so basicly it happened just over night, when i went to start it in the morning the truck was dead as it was very slow/ hard to turn over, before i took it apart, if i filled the resevoir it would start and run for about 20 seconds then die, check resevoir and it would be empty, thats what lead me to believe that it was leaking, but its all been resealed now

Is the oil full? If not fill it and jack the back of the truck as high as you can refill the HPOP resavoir and try starting it. If it stays running then you could have a cracked pickup tube.

I don't know if it makes a difference but did you lose the spring and clip on the bypass where the oil filter goes? Pull the filter and you will see a small hole, see whats in there...
