Honestly the concern of bugs can be addressed with a spray bottle of peroxide/water and a hose to wash them off. The peroxide attacks the bugs and loosens them up. There has been talk about a grille changing how the air is introduced which could possibly cause mapping problems.
How can this affect the MAP sensor readings? This is not an intake. It is just a cooler for the air to flow through before entering into the engine.

I dont know alot about map stuff and all, but from what I read and understood someplace..... If the intercooler does not get proper air flow it will cause issues with the turbos and air flowing into the engine. Thus causing poor running conditions.

I could believe that. The computer most likely does not measure the real air flow that hits the intercooler, but it does have information about outside temp and speed - and can therefore calculate the airflow / cooling effect precisely - under the assumption that there is no obstruction.
The only real reason that I can see for the grille is the looks (considering an intercooler costs $250 or so vs. the $100 for a grille insert, and then looking at the real probability of intercooler damage - in the end the grille insert most likely is more expensive). If you like the looks and see no problem - that's most likely fine. Not worth it to me, especially since I also tow our trailer over the mountains and in hot weather, and I might need all the cooling there is.
IF!!! I decide to put one on, I will remove it when I hook up to our Travel Trailer. But then to remove and reinstall it will be rather inconvienent!
Which to me is why it doesn't seem worth it...it makes it look a little better but I don't know that it is really needed.
Msgtord I was referring to the cooling effecting the mapping. Just like a radiator, when the vents are plugged it cannot cool as well, an increase in temp will effect everything.
The only way for all of the speculation to be put to rest is for an ecoboost owner to buy a scanguage and monitor the intake air temp before after installation of the grill.

Everything so far is just guesswork.
Especially under heavy load (towing in mountains / hot temps).
Or (even easier): just follow Ford's recommendation. You guys think there is absolutely no reason that the Ford engineers want the air flow to the intercooler unobstructed?

Agreed on the Scan guage.
As for Ford engineers. It COULD be as simple as they dont know if it will affect it or not so just say "dont do it" to be safe.
To say it will effect intake temp can not be any worse from driving your truck in the desert heat to say winter in the north country. How can they say the grill will harm the engine?
